Great read, thankyou very much! Has made me look forward to my August 27th LEJOG departure more than anything! 10 days, no support, travelodge's, premier inn's, b&b's and hopefully some nice weather to look forward to! Cheers, Charlie (age 21)

Thanks for writing this. I am setting off on the trip on 26th May this year. I got here through searching for knee pain and it looks like you had it. I'm getting mild pain occurring during training now which suggests to me it will only get worse en route. Considering proper cycle fit with lasers etc, have you had this or have any advice on getting through it? Like you I can still ride...

A fantastic read, and a real eye opener. Never imagined it's going to be easy but you have given me a lot of food for thought. Fundraising already started and date for leaving confirmed as 5th August, camper van hired and first 4 campsites booked, no backing out now! Hope my 19 year old son and I have a bit more luck on the way. Thanks again for taking the trouble writing up your very entertaining account.

Thanks for the comment. I did LEJOG again last year by a much better route and also Ireland/France end to end along with the Greenwich Meridian

Good read and reminder of my own 2001 trip - not as quick as yours but a similar route. My bike performed well but clothing didn't. A much better ride in 2007 - Penzance to Durness - better bike and much better gear. The latter ride was more enjoyable especially the ride back to Inverness on the daily bike-bus. have you attempted any more big ride?

Wow, what a fantastic account of your trip. You have given me a very real sence (both mentally and physically) of what this challenge involves - a combination of pain and rain by the sound of it! I have now added Ibruprofen to my ever increasing list of things to take. I have bought my train ticket to Penzance and am committed to take on the end to end. Its not gonna be easy. Many thanks. Al (age nearly 40!)
